Hosted by Amnesty Philippines, I had the honor of co-leading a Heartwired training with resilient human rights activists from the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Hong Kong.

In this training, co-led by Robert Perez of Wonder: Strategies for Good, Amnesty International convened activists in Manila and Hong Kong for two-day workshops on a Heartwired approach to communicating with their audiences.

The training was built around case studies where an issue was stuck and public support had plateaued or was shrinking, and we showcased how emotionally complex dynamics interfered with people’s abilities to feel or think differently. Activists crafted draft Heartwired campaigns by leveraging audience mapping and other principles laid out in the guide.
